4-Week Hand BuildingThis 4-week Hand Building Class is designed for both beginners and those with some clay experience looking to deepen their skills. Over the course of four sessions, we’ll explore essential hand building techniques like pinching, slab building, and sculpture. We will discuss construction techniques for securely attaching pieces together, experiment with different texture techniques, and glaze finished pieces. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your practice to the next level, this course offers a supportive space to develop your creativity and create a series of finished functional and/or sculptural pieces.
For those new to hand building, we will work through a series of guided projects covering various basic techniques to build your foundation in clay and complete 2-3 pieces. Students with prior hand building experience will work on strengthening and refining their skills through a mix of larger or self-chosen projects. Class discussions will include clay, glaze, equipment, safety, tools, and the firing process to provide students with a fuller understanding of the pottery process. Student work will be available for pick up 1-3 weeks after the end of class. Enrollment includes one 25 lb. bag of clay! Available class optionsSession 1
