After you are acquainted with your animal friend, Amanda Wander will lead an art experience where you will use a cigar box and alter its’ design and structure to create a small, portable shrine or altar dedicated to your animal.
All materials and tools necessary to build your shrine will be provided including tea light candles, matches, and sage. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORSHANNAH FAZIO
Hannah Fazio has spent time as an ice cream scooper, file sorter, yoga instructor, nightclub performer, cocktail waitress, second grade teacher, intimacy choreographer, and creative arts therapist. By some act of theatre magic, Meryl Streep attended the first production of Hannah’s play Miss Woman Pageant and said she “Love loved it” because it “was just so true.” Hannah holds a doctorate in theatre and performance research and is working on two books. AMANDA WANDER
Amanda Wander earned her BA in Studio Art from Florida State University in 2008. She served as Education Director at LeMoyne from 2004 to 2006 and has exhibited her mixed media collages and assemblages at venues such as LeMoyne and the Gadsden Arts Center. With a diverse skill set spanning photography, printmaking, leatherworking, bookbinding, foundry techniques, and graphic design, she has also taught workshops at LeMoyne and the Thomasville Center for the Arts. Wander's artistic philosophy embraces the idea that "more is better"—a belief she applies through the process of "gilding the lily," continually adding layers and complexity to her work. Her recent creations include artist books and small-scale mixed media collages, reflecting her ongoing exploration of texture, materiality, and narrative. |
