A little over three years ago, LeMoyne participated in the CRA Arts, Culture and Heritage Grants Program and was recommended by the review committee for $2 million to restore and modernize its facilities. Unfortunately, contrary to the recommendation, the final decision was to award LeMoyne $1 million, leaving us a considerable funding gap.
Even in the best of times, large scale fundraising is a monumental undertaking for non-profits. Add to that the economic belt tightening resulting from a global pandemic and the task becomes even more daunting.
A new day dawns! LeMoyne has been presented with an exciting opportunity to purchase the adjoining property to the south of the gallery. The property includes a two-story 6,264 square foot office building, 20 parking spaces and adjacent garden space.

131 N Gadsden St. Property selling price $1,300,000
Renovations required $ 700,000
Total Project Cost $2,000,000
A new, larger, more flexible education building, and renovated sculpture garden will provide LeMoyne with the facility it needs to realize its plans to be a regional magnet for arts education. While the expanded and improved facility will function efficiently, the renovated sculpture garden will provide an inspiring setting for artists to create and for community events and interactions.
A larger and better-equipped facility will draw regional and national conference participation, bringing more money to hotels, restaurants and other Tallahassee venues.
More students will translate to more positions for art teachers. LeMoyne employs 25 to 30 art teachers each year, providing a financial stimulus to artists and educators and making it possible for them to continue working in their chosen field creating art.
