Clay 101Clay 101: This 8-week class is designed to provide students new to clay with a foundation in essential clay techniques including preparing clay, hand building, and wheel throwing. We will learn the basics of hand building using pinching, slab building, and sculpture. Wheel throwing will focus on centering, opening, and pulling basic forms such as cylinders and bowls. Class discussions will include clay, glaze, equipment, safety, tools, and the firing process to provide students with a fuller understanding of the pottery process.
If you are brand new to clay or looking to reinforce your foundational skills, this class is for you. Student work will be available for pick up 1-3 weeks after the end of class. Enrollment includes one 25 lb. bag of clay! *No class held on July 2. |
