Colors of Collage

In this youth workshop, students will explore the playful, abstract colors and patterns of an autumn forest through shape, line, and color! Students will leave this workshop with a unique and inspiring autumn forest collage.

This workshop will help to build a foundation for technical collage-based skills by guiding the students on how to discuss and visualize a complex composition and how to bring it to life through line, shape, and color of various materials. We hope to see you there!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

AVA ROMANO
Ava Romano is a junior at Florida State University with majors in Art History and Fine Art, and is hoping to pursue a career in studio practice and Elementary Art Education. She grew up in West Palm Beach, Florida, where she was exposed to the local arts scene at an early age when she began classes much like these at the Armory Art Center! She has participated in numerous community art events and exhibitions within the city and at the state and national levels as an artist, exhibiting work in Continuum Juried Art Fair, a winning portfolio at the Florida State Fair Juried Art Exhibition, and in the National Art Education Association Vitrual Gallery. As an undergraduate, Ava has spent time on several fashion publications, interned with the FSU Museum of Fine Arts, and when back home, works as an art teacher with Kids Need More Art, a Juno Beach, Florida-based children's art advocacy organization built by her very first art teacher! Today, her personal art practice explores themes of memory, nostalgia, and the sublime on a colorful Midwestern background based on family history that has greatly influenced her pursuits in life and in art. She is so excited to get to know the Tallahassee community even better and help students explore the importance of experimentation and personal expression in their artwork!
