Teen Intermediate DrawingIn this class we will be focusing both on expanding the student's technical skills in drawing as well as their conceptual skills. The first classes will focus on more conventional technical exercises like: drawing a still life, copying a classical master's sketches, and drawing from a photo reference. But as the class progresses we will add more experimental methods like: drawing realistic versions of the shapes we see in clouds, drawing a realistic version of a cartoon character, making a self portrait that is made up of smaller objects, and disrupting a drawing with subtraction or addition.
Towards the end of the course the students will use the last three classes to complete a final self directed project. This project can be an expansion on a previous project or a brand new idea. The students will be able to take their pencil drawings and develop them further with ink, markers, charcoal etc. In this course students will advance their technical drawing skills while also learning how to generate new concepts and experimental methods that add freshness and style. By the end of the course they will come away with a new confidence in their skills and ideas, and an understanding of how strong drawing skills can elevate all of their artistic endeavors. |
