Felicia McCoy | Board MemberLifeline Program Manager, Tallahassee Memorial Hospital
I am a proud Florida State University graduate where I earned my Bachelor's degree in Criminology, and entered the corrections field with the State of Florida. After six months in corrections, I realized I needed further education and returned to FSU to complete my Master's degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Financial Management. It was at that time that healthcare became my new career choice. My short-term job in corrections showed me just how important healthcare is to the mental and physical well being of one and all so I joined the staff of Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. Since being at TMH, I have been in several different positions -- Business Office Manager - Home HealthCare, Fundraising Specialist -- TMH Foundation and, presently, Lifeline Program Manager. Each of these positions has been quite meaningful to me. I personally know the impact of great healthcare because several people in my family have required extensive, quality healthcare. TMH is my hospital for life and I love serving my community through my work. I also recognize that the arts play a vital role in the life of people of all ages and walks of life. Therefore, I strongly support the mission of LeMoyne Arts. |
Mary Jo Spector | Board MemberDirector of Research Facilities Design, Structure and Maintenance, FSU
www.mjspector.com I am an architect by training and profession, which shows in my fascination with buildings and details. I trained as an architect at Penn State, where I squeezed in as many art classes I as could manage between architecture classes. I have drawn and painted since I was a small child, particularly animals and landscapes. I prefer to work from life, sitting at the edge of a lake to capture the wood storks while they feed or paint the clouds as the light hits them in a particular way. I generally employ two different techniques in my pen and ink drawings; pointillism and minimalism, trying to capture the essence of the subject with the fewest possible strokes. I carry a camera, a journal, and a set of black pens wherever I go. I never know when I might encounter a heron or a tree frog or a building that fascinates me. I spend a page or two drawing dozens of terns, feeding, resting, in flight, just trying to get it right. When I think I’m getting close, I pick my angle, get as close as I can without them taking flight, and work fast. I am a year-round resident of Tallahassee and participate in many of the local festivals including Springtime Tallahassee, Chain of Parks, Tallahassee Nurseries Show, and Market Days as well as travel to art festivals outside the area. To date, these have included the Santa Fe College Spring Arts Festival (Gainesville), Artsquest (Seaside), 3 Rivers Arts Festival (Pittsburgh), and the Downtown Gainesville Arts Festival. I have exhibited my work at the LeMoyne and Humidity Galleries in Tallahassee, Marianne Coventry in Gainesville, and the Bowery Gallery in Apalachicola. |
