Tallahassee, FL – LeMoyne Arts is proud to present The Nature of Kinship & Its Artful Connections, on view from Thursday, April 9, through Saturday, May 9, 2026. This exhibition brings together the work of acclaimed artist Mifflin Hollyday, alongside regional artists Alexa Kleinbard, Mark Messersmith, and Lilian Garcia Roig, in a collective exploration of nature, community, and interconnectedness.
Hollyday’s large-scale mixed-media paintings celebrate the strength and beauty of trees and the profound ways they connect us to one another and to the environment. Complementing her work, the regional artists present diverse approaches across media, contributing to a rich dialogue on kinship, both human and ecological.
The opening reception will take place on Thursday, April 9, from 5 PM to 7:30 PM, with a Tree dedication provided by Tallahassee Nurseries at 6 PM. This event offers guests the opportunity to meet the artists and experience the exhibition firsthand. Catering will be generously provided by Food Glorious Food, along with our in-house bar. Drinks sponsored by Lee Satterfield. Live Music by the Pick-Ups.
A special Muffins & Mimosas event with a panel discussion featuring Alexa Kleinbard, Mark Messersmith & Lilian Garcia Roig will follow on Saturday, April 11, from 11 AM to 12:30 PM, providing a deeper look into the inspirations and connections behind the works on display. Enjoy delicious muffins by Uptown Café & Catering, uplifting coffee by Argonaut Coffee, along with our in-house mimosas. Live music by Hot Tamale.
The Nature of Kinship & Its Artful Connections invites viewers to reflect on the bonds that shape our world, through both art and nature, and to celebrate the ways creative expression can illuminate our shared experiences.
