Below is a sample list of supplies that may be needed for the course, based on past offerings. The instructor may require different materials, and will supply their own recommendations to enrolled students.

Recommended Supplies
- 1 sheet of watercolor paper; 20” x 30” Arches brand, 140 lb. either hot press or cold press
- Minimum 3 high quality paintbrushes
- Two “rounds”, one large # 8 or # 10 brush and one small #1 brush
- One “flat” 1 or 2 inch brush
- Tubes of watercolor paint, from Winsor-Newton, M. Graham and Rembrandt brands. A small tube of watercolor paint will last a long time.
- Colors should include tubes of Azo or Hansa Yellow, Alizarine Red, and Pthalo Blue (also known as Winsor Blue)
- Additional colors may include tubes of Sap Green, Ultramarine Blue, Burnt Sienna, and Cadmium Red
- One tube of white Gouache paint (an opaque water-based paint)
- A small bottle of masking fluid
- Also needed is a cheap brush for application of the fluid
- Palette that includes a large flat area for mixing paint. Palette type is largely determined by personal preference
- A white plastic plate will work
- A “butcher tray” type may also be suitable
- Other supplies
- Absorbent paper towels
- Large container for water
- Pencil
- Kneaded eraser
- Resources to paint from such as drawings or photos
- Sketch book to take notes
